Graphics for the Enthusiast

The SAPPHIRE HD 7970 was one of the first graphics cards in the world to incorporate the latest generation of GPU’s from AMD built in a new 28nm process and featuring the new GCN optimised graphics processing architecture. The HD 7970 is the most powerful single chip GPU ever built. It has a new internal structure with 32 compute units and a total of 2048 Stream processors. A new 384-bit high speed memory interface with over 264GB/sec memory bandwidth connects to a large 3GB array of the latest DDR5 memory.

Now SAPPHIRE is shipping is a new model, the SAPPHIRE HD 7970 OC Edition which features a Dual BIOS with a choice of higher core and memory clock speeds as well as SAPPHIRE’s new dual-extractor technology - Dual-X - a highly efficient multi-heatpipe cooler with dual fans providing quiet and very cool operation during normal operating conditions, and superb cooling performance even under extreme load.

SAPPHIRE also offers two models of the HD 7950. The standard SAPPHIRE HD 7950 ships with a core clock speed of 810MHz, slightly higher than the reference design, and a dual slot, single fan cooler. For the enthusiast, SAPPHIRE offers a high performance model, the SAPPHIRE HD 7950 OC Edition, which is factory overclocked to 900MHz and also features SAPPHIRE’s new Dual-X cooler technology. Both models have a large 3GB array of the latest DDR5 memory with effective clocks of 5Gb/s.

In CeBIT, SAPPHIRE will preview a new super-overclocked HD 7970 model with 6GB of memory, aimed at the real hardcore enthusiast - and look out for the first cards in the brand new HD 7800 series!

Tune up with TriXX

For enthusiasts wishing to maximise performance, a new version of the SAPPHIRE overclocking tool, TriXX supporting this latest generation of technology is available free to download from the SAPPHIRE website. TriXX allows tuning of GPU voltage as well as core and memory clocks, whilst continuously displaying temperature. Manual control of fan speed is supported, as well as user created fan profiles and the ability to save up to four different performance settings.

Silence is Golden?

The SAPPHIRE HD 7750 ULTIMATE is the first card in this generation to use a passive heatpipe and heatsink cooler to deliver totally silent cooling, and increased reliability as it has no mechanical moving parts.  It shares all the features of the HD 7700 series and the highly acclaimed GCN graphics processing architecture making it ideal for HTPCs and any general purpose PC where operational noise needs to be kept to a minimum. It delivers excellent performance with core clocks of 800MHz and 1GB of DDR5 memory clocked at 1125MHz (4.5 GB/s effective), making it the fastest passively cooled 128-bit graphics card on the market.

Check out our Mainboards!

Not everyone is aware that SAPPHIRE has an increasing line of mainboards, supporting processors from both AMD and Intel.

For the enthusiast, the SAPPHIRE Pure Black 990FX is a state of the art mainboard making full use of the features of the AMD 990FX and SB950 chipsets. It has six PCI-Express Gen2 slots as well as extensive SATA and I/O support. It is a built to a high standard with its black multilayer PCB, and high quality gold plated connectors for USB 3.0 and LAN. User friendly features include digital debug display and a push button reset for the BIOS, as well as start and system reset buttons, especially useful for enthusiasts interested in performance tuning or overclocking. This is also the first mainboard to feature the SAPPHIRE QBIOS – an easy to use UEFI BIOS with many overclocking features.

Supporting the latest family of APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) from AMD the SAPPHIRE Pure Platinum A75 is a full ATX sized board making full use of the combined features of the A75 chipset and A-series APU.

The SAPPHIRE Pure Platinum A75 has support for USB 3.0 as well as USB 2.0 ports in addition to Gigabit LAN and Bluetooth connectivity. It has extensive SATA support, including AHCI and RAID support. Three Video output options are provided for the graphics output of the APU - DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort - of which any pair can be used simultaneously. Alternatively the x16 PCI-Express Gen2 slot can be used to support AMD Dual graphics with a suitable add-in card, or to utilize a higher performance graphics card.

Following the introduction of our flagship SAPPHIRE Pure Black X58 motherboard last year, we have now introduced a range of mainboards supporting the latest Intel processors, including the SAPPHIRE Pure Platinum H67, SAPPHIRE Pure Platinum Z68 and most recently the SAPPHIRE Pure Black X79. This latest board is firmly aimed at the enthusiast, with many high end features such as a new SAPPHIRE UEFI BIOS, Dual BIOS switch, status monitor, voltage test pads and thermal monitoring. Hardware monitoring tools and the SAPPHIRE proprietary Mainboard TriXX software allow users to review and adjust a range of system parameters while optimising performance of the CPU.

All of our enthusiast mainboards incorporate many of the high end features associated with the SAPPHIRE brand, such as the use of high reliability solid capacitors throughout. The multi-phase PWM voltage regulation circuitry for both the CPU and memory modules incorporate the SAPPHIRE Diamond Black chokes with coolers that have featured on SAPPHIRE’s high end graphics cards.

Mini PC gets APU!

Building on the success of our first Mini PC, hailed as one of the smallest PCs in the world, SAPPHIRE has just introduced a new model. The SAPPHIRE EDGE HD3 shares the same slim, stylish outline as the earlier models but delivers increased graphical capability and higher core performance as a result of incorporating the latest E450 APU technology from AMD. At less than half a litre in volume, it is slimmer and smaller than most wireless access points – in fact around the size of a paperback book!  Its stylish design and simple pedestal mount make it equally at home next to a TV or a business monitor whilst occupying the minimum of desk or shelf space.

The SAPPHIRE EDGE-HD3 is a fully featured PC for home, education or business use. In the home, its compact size is a welcome replacement for a bulky traditional PC whether for browsing the internet, gaming, homework or Office tasks, with many applications accelerated by its state-of-the-art technology. Its small size allows it easily to be moved around to share experiences with friends and can be quickly set up with TV or monitor

For business, the stream processing technology in the SAPPHIRE EDGE-HD3 accelerates Office tasks and many business applications, whilst occupying a fraction of the desk space of a regular PC - and consuming many times less power. In education, it is more than capable of running the multiple applications required, and its small size allows easy transfer to different locations as needed. In both cases the built in networking by cable or wireless is easily configured, and inclusion of the socket for a Kensington lock ensures security against unauthorized removal.

Seeing Double with SAPPHIRE Vid-2X

SAPPHIRE Vid-2X is a compact stand-alone unit that allows two Full HD DVI monitors to be connected to a single Thunderbolt, DisplayPort or DualLink-DVI output of any laptop or desktop.  The device is ideal for computing devices that cannot easily be expanded such as laptops and superbooks as well as for users that are restricted from opening their PCs by warranty or corporate rules. Two models are offered - one with DisplayPort (Thunderbolt compatible) input and one with DualLink DVI input.

A completely external solution, requiring no software or drivers to be loaded, the SAPPHIRE Vid-2X won’t invalidate any warranties or cause infuriating set up issues. Just plug in two HD monitors and a USB cable for power and enjoy the instant productivity gains that working on a large screen area offers.  For classrooms or boardrooms, the Vid 2X can even mirror the same image on the two different monitors; ideal for learning environments and engaging presentations. Enabling multiple monitors has never been so easy !
