World leading graphics supplier, SAPPHIRE Technology, now introduces the world’s fastest graphics card, the SAPPHIRE HD 5970 OC Edition.
With twice the computing power of the highly acclaimed SAPPHIRE HD 5870, the new HD 5970 model shares all the exciting features of this family – including support for the DirectCompute 11 instruction set of Microsoft DirectX 11, hardware tessellation and multi threaded communication with the system CPU. It also supports the acceleration of applications supported by ATI Stream, and the ability to display across three monitors simultaneously with ATI Eyefinity.
The SAPPHIRE HD 5970 OC Edition ships with enhanced clock speeds of 735MHz core and 1010MHz (4.04GHz effective) - faster than the standard model, making the SAPPHIRE HD 5870 OC the fastest card in its class, and the fastest in the world*. Enthusiasts will also be able to tune performance of these SAPPHIRE cards using the SAPPHIRE Redline voltage tweaker tool** to enable higher levels of overclocking.
With 2GB of fifth generation GDDR5 memory and a new architecture with a total of 3200 stream processors and 160 texture units the SAPPHIRE HD 5970 OC is lightning fast with existing DirectX10.1, DirectX 10 and DirectX 9.0 games and applications, and will support stunning new levels of detail, transparency and lighting effects in new releases of software using DirectX 11. All of this comes with a modest active power consumption and ATI Powerplay Dynamic Power Management to achieve super-low power consumption in 2D and idle modes.
These cards incorporate the latest architectural features from the ATI division of AMD in order to fully support Microsoft DirectX 11, including DirectCompute 11 instructions, hardware Tessellation and multi-threaded communications with the system CPU. These combine to provide new capabilities such as the interaction between transparent objects, new lighting and accelerated post processing effects as well as supporting ATI Stream for accelerating applications such as video transcoding.

The Redline software included with this card only makes the deal sweeter. With this software you can increase the voltage of the card, and do an extreme overclock to net you huge gains in performance on top of the already incredible performance of this card. Usually such software comes at a premium price, but this card is in line (price wise) with all of the normal 5970's.
Overall the Sapphire 5970 Redline was the best performing card we have ever seen, and had an amazing price compared to similar products from Nvidia. This is why the card earns a 9 out of 10 and the Bjorn3D Golden Bear Award.

If you can't get more clock speed you have additional capabilities that can be used with the HD 5970 OC.
Sapphire has given the end user a pretty substantial bundle that includes two DX 11 titles so that you can take full advantage of the capabilities of the HD 5970 OC.
Not everyone will want or need a card of this caliber but you can rest assured that there will be enough for you to jump on the bandwagon to have the best of the best video card on the block, the Sapphire HD 5970 OC!

Well, to be frank, we love it. There's nothing better than having a single graphics card that performs almost as well as two out of the box. The bundle is kick ass and the specifications and feature set is the same as the HD 5870 which we love.
This card suits people who want an extremely fast setup but don't have a board that will offer them dual 16x; something like the P55 would be a prime example. It’s a great card if you're not interested in having two cards in your system and prefer the clean design of just a single one, want the chance to run up to four of the HD 5870 GPUs or just really love playing with fast and expensive technology.
The package Sapphire has given us is great; the inclusion of all the normal HD 5870 goodies along with the extra game is a great addition. This is especially true since you can grab BattleForge now and start taking advantage of DX11 immediately. The performance of the model is what you would expect, which is nothing short of fantastic and the pricing while being a bit hard to swallow, isn't really that much of a surprise.

| | Great Hardware Award by Pureoverclock | | | SAPPHIRE HD5970 2GB GDDR5 PCIE (OC Edition) | | Quite simply, the Sapphire HD 5970 OC is the fastest graphics card on the planet, offering shock-inducing performance that cannot be touched by any single or dual-GPU card out there. And with the ability to tweak the voltages to overclock this card even further, we're left both shaking our heads in disbelief and grinning from ear to ear.
In terms of competition from the Nvidia side of things, there really isn't any. The 5970 OC's closest competitor is the GTX 295, a card that is also very fast but cannot match this DX11 monster except in Crysis Warhead where we noted essentially equal results.
The Sapphire Radeon 5970 OC is an excellent graphics card, posting the best GPU results we've ever seen. While few people will have the deep pockets to afford this card, those that do are probably diehard enthusiasts; if you're someone who craves top performance and doesn't mind putting up with some hassle along the way, then the Sapphire HD 5970 OC is for you.
