SAPPHIRE HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E
Priced where this card is, with its, ah, "bombastic" overclocking, this card is a solid buy for any and all budget gamers. This card even begs the question, is it worth going after a 4850 or 9800 GTX? Well, of course it is, but if you've got to make every dollar count, this card's practically irresistible. I kind of wish that I was putting together a budget PC myself so I could run out and stick one of these 4830s in there. Or two, even, the price is so right.

SAPPHIRE HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E
The ATI-powered HD4830 from Sapphire is showing promise at being one of the best bangs for the buck cards out there. The card retails at about $119 at most major online stores, and the performance numbers put it right under the HD4850, which is where it is supposed to be. This alone will make the HD4830 a hit for Sapphire and AMD. Am I over hyping the HD4830? Not at all, this is a great card for the money. The numbers prove it. I was happy to see that Sapphire went a difference route when it came down to cooling this new card.

For the price they offer the power needed to run today's games on medium to high settings with no problem and even take on cards that are designed to be faster than them. When put to the test the Sapphire HD 4830 stood its ground and even matched or beat scores of other cards in its class. I am very pleased to see they brought it to their HD 4830 line as well to aid in cooling. Sapphire did a great job in designing and building the HD 4830 for us.

SAPPHIRE HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E
The performance of the Sapphire Radeon HD4830 512MB graphics card definitely surpassed expectations. I am not exactly sure how I expected it to fare during testing, but it wound up looking more like an enthusiast grade card than an entry level offering. It should be able to handle just about any game without having to sacrifice too much in terms of frame rates or settings, making it a great option for the gamer on a budget. The positives are numerous, while the negatives are few; with most relating to cost cutting measures that let the card be so competitively priced. The bundle of accessories includes a variety of connectors, but there is no CrossFire bridge. The price and performance of the Sapphire Radeon HD4830 512MB graphics card help it earn the Bigbruin.com awards of "Good Value" and "Highly Recommended".

Overall, I am completely pleased with the performance of the card. It beat the 8800GT OC in the majority of the test runs and, in my opinion, the image quality is slightly better. Now on to the final verdict. I’m impressed with the performance of the card mainly for what you have to pay for one. So, if you’re on short purse strings, but need a new video card to play some of today’s current games at reasonable settings, you should be giving the Sapphire HD 4830 a look. It’ll be worth your time.

SAPPHIRE HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E
The Sapphire HD4830 is an amazing card for its low price. I was very pleasantly surprised at its performance. I was able to run most games maxed out without any performance issues at all and was even able to play Crysis Warhead at an acceptable resolution and settings. The sub-$100 price tag means you can get all of this power without breaking the bank and you can even run multiple GPUs and still be under the prices of the next level up in GPUs. If you are looking for a good buy in the mainstream gamer price range but want to push for enthusiast performance you would not be wrong to pick up one of two Sapphire HD4830s for your system or as a gift from that gamer you know.

SAPPHIRE HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E
I have to say that the card performed above my expectations. I played Call of Duty 4 for roughly 3 hours straight and the card maintained a good frame rate throughout each map. I estimate my frames to average out between the mid 90s to the mid 130s, sometimes hitting a lot higher depending on the location in the map of course. However, at 90-130fps game play was pretty smooth and rather enjoyable. Having played with the 8800GTS in the past and knowing just how strong it was in CoD4 I was pretty impressed with the Sapphire HD 4830's performance. For the price it just can't be beat, lol, heck buy two and run them in CrossFireX for a killer gaming setup for a fraction of the higher end cards. I can only imagine what two Sapphire HD 4830's in CrossFireX would do .... Whew! Bottom line ... the Sapphire HD 4830 Rockz!

SAPPHIRE HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E
When it comes to video cards the HD 4830 may very well be it companion in reaching numbers far removed from their stock setting. If you were to pay $164.00 for the E8400 Wolfdale and then add $119.00 for the Sapphire HD 4830 you would have the beginning of a very nice system for less than $300.00. Without a doubt the Sapphire HD 4830 is a card to consider either for your main system or a backup system simply because the cost to performance ratio is just to good to pass up.

SAPPHIRE HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E
The Sapphire Radeon HD 4830 512MB had performed well ahead of the Radeon HD 4670 and not too far behind the Radeon HD 4850 512MB. The Sapphire Radeon HD 4830 retails for roughly $130 USD while the Radeon HD 4850 is currently going for $160 at least and the Radeon HD 4670 for at least $80. In our minds, the Radeon HD 4830 is a much better offering over the Radeon HD 4670 and should satisfy most casual gamers on Linux that aren't concerned with the best performance possible. For $130 USD the Sapphire Radeon HD 4830 512MB isn't a bad deal and is certainly a PCI Express 2.0 graphics card worth considering.

SAPPHIRE HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E
We've already looking at the 4830 once and it definitely is a great card which is about 10% upper or lower performance from a Radeon HD 4850. If you're gaming at 1680x1050 or below then this is the perfect high-end card for you. Overall, we're very happy Sapphire can provide a great card that rids the 4830's one problem which all 4800 cards have: heat, and do so at a great price. Sapphire's Radeon HD 4830 is available for an excellent $129 from MWave, which is basically the price of reference 4830 cards. For that price this is a fantastic deal and a no-brainer if you're looking for a 4830 card. Resolving the heat issue of the 4800 series removes the one flaw in the cards and is a great and practical movie on Sapphire's part. Sapphire's similar 4850 Radeon card is $172 though we've seen them closer in price at some other stores.

SAPPHIRE HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E
Radeon HD 4830 provides a good cost/benefit ratio for users looking for a video card on the USD 130 range that will provide an excellent performance for this price point. Of course if you can afford a Radeon HD 4850, go for it. But if you are a mainstream user that likes to play but doesn’t want to spend a lot of money on a video card, Radeon HD 4830 is a good option. Talking specifically about Sapphire’s model, we loved the fact that Sapphire decided to use its own cooler instead of using ATI’s reference model, which is heavy and heats a lot.
