Additionally it is almost silent which is a huge bonus considering the noise levels some of ATI’s reference coolers can subject you to at high fan speeds.
Sapphire have supplied the end user with an impressive bundle containing all the dongles and adaptors you could need... the most noteworthy addition is the HDMI cable which earns Sapphire bonus points.
Everything considered, the Sapphire 4890 Atomic is a brilliant card that offers a lethal combination of high performance and low noise levels in parallel with a strong bundle. Considering its stunning performance it earns a best in class award. | |

| | DAM Good, DAM Good Value and DAM Innovative Awards by Hardwarecanucks | | | SAPPHIRE ATOMIC HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCIE | | I couldn’t wait for benchmarks to finish so I could see what insane performance levels this card would post next. At times it felt like I was dog running circles around a family picnic waiting for the next bone to be thrown on the ground.
Performance is one thing but the Atomic gets so many things right that it is impossible to find any faults with it. It will be priced at around $300 USD which makes it quite a bit less expensive than a GTX 285 and even many GTX 275s on the market.
Every now and then, the planets align and the Hardware Gods grace us with that absolutely perfect piece of hardware. Well, the Sapphire HD 4890 Atomic is just that and more. We have never done this before but I’m going to give this card every award we’ve got.
The Dam Good Award because it really is that good. The Dam Innovative Award due to its lower than expected power consumption, low noise output and amazing temperatures. Finally it gets the Dam Good Value Award because it more often than not grabs a stock GTX 285 and smacks it around while yelling “who’s your DADDY!?!” over and over again while retailing for about $50 less. | | Recommended by Neoseeker | | | SAPPHIRE ATOMIC HD 4890 1GB GDDR5 PCIE | | The Sapphire HD 4890 Atomic shares the same Vapor-X-variety cooler as other recent high-end Sapphire models, most obviously of course, the HD 48xx Vapor-X line. The difference between these models is two fold: first, the Atomic has the highest overclock of any of Sapphire lines; and second, the cooler is a step more robust, in order to sustain this high overclock.
The high level of overclocking is perhaps our favorite feature found in the HD 4890 Atomic. It is highly unlikely that we will see any faster ATI cards coming out this generation than today's HD 4890 Atomic. It offers the pinnacle of performance that you will find in a single GPU ATI card of this generation.
The Sapphire HD 4890 Atomic is one video card that hits every base: top-tier performance, fair price, a quiet, effective cooler, and a great bundle to boot. For hitting all these key points, the Atomic is an easy product to recommend. | |
