The SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon™ RX 480 is designed for high-quality 1440p gaming. It features a 4th generation Graphics Core Next chip with an improved geometry engine, increased caches and native asynchronous shaders. The NITRO+ RX 480 8GB version comes with 2304 GCN-based stream processors that run with a factory-overclock base clock of up to 1342 MHz The model comes with a full 8 GB GDDR5 memory clocked at 2000 MHz on a 256-bit interface.

SAPPHIRE opens a new chapter in the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Gaming Series with the introduction of the SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon™ RX 480. By adding innovative technologies and user-facing features to the efficient Polaris foundations, SAPPHIRE puts gamers in a front-row seat for the next-gen graphics era. This new series of cards have been NITRO Charged for the Gamers!

NITRO Free Flow

We looked at the traditional axial fan design system, and found that the way it circulates the hot air back to the fan inlet resulted in a higher temperature over time. With NITRO Free Flow (NFF) we redesigned the airflow of the entire cooler and board, so that the hot air is expelled through the system fan instead, rapidly dissipating heat.


NITRO Glow

The graphics card is more than another component; it’s the beating heart of your gaming system. It should look as good as it costs. With tasteful shroud design augmented by RGB LEDs, each card is practically a piece of art. You can even change the colours of the LED, for your own customized design. This can be controlled via software using the latest version of SAPPHIRE’s Award Winning Overclocking Utility – TriXX 3.0, or through hardware by pressing the red button on the back of your SAPPHIRE NITRO Gaming Series card. Users can choose from a set of five different modes including Fan Speed Mode, PCB Temperature Mode or the colourful rainbow mode. If you prefer, LEDs can also be turned off.


NITRO Boost

The new NITRO Boost switch increases the boost clock and power limit for higher performance to unleash the gaming performance of the card.

Planning to overclock or looking for maximum performance? SAPPHRE NITRO cards come with an 8 pin power connector to plug in and enable Nitro Boost.


Black Diamond Chokes 4

Our Black Diamond Chokes are 10% cooler and 25% more power efficient than a normal choke - and these Mark 4 Chokes reduce the coil temperatures by other 15% over the Mark 3s.

These exclusive chokes will maintain gaming stability using their built-in heatsinks and help minimize coil whine.


VR Friendly

The SAPPHIRE NITRO Gaming Series cards come with Dual HDMI ports, specifically designed to work with VR. By having two HDMI ports, you can have both an HD monitor and cutting-edge VR headset running at the same time.

The ports are HDMI 2.0b, the latest update, with an 18Gbps bandwidth, up to 32 audio channels, and is able to support 4K 50/60 resolutions like 2160P, whilst remaining entirely backwards compatible with older HDMI specifications.


HDR Ready 

High Dynamic Range (HDR) is a state-of-the-art technology for gamers and cinephiles that care deeply about the display quality of their TV or monitor. Introducing AMD LiquidVR

Radeon RX 480: Sapphire Nitro+ versus MSI Gaming X review

Sapphire is al lange tijd één van AMD's trouwste partners. Voor deze nieuwe generatie kaarten heeft de fabrikant dan ook een volledig nieuwe koeler ontwikkeld, die nog steeds Dual-X wordt genoemd. Het uiterlijk is echter compleet anders, met twee relatief grote 95mm-ventilatoren als hoogtepunt. Daardoor steekt de kaart wel flink uit boven de standaardhoogte van een uitbreidingsslot: hij meet 12,1 cm en is 24 cm lang.


RX 480 Crossfire

A few weeks ago before going on vacation I took a look at the Sapphire RX 480 8GB Nitro and was impressed with its performance. Well as these things normally go, with that being the second RX 480 to come into the office, I did spend some time with both the Sapphire and our original reference RX 480 on the test bench to test out Crossfire performance. Sadly, I hadn’t had a chance to take a look at the numbers until today, though. So today let’s see how the RX 480’s perform in Crossfire for those wondering if picking up a second RX 480 in the future will be worth in.


TEST AMD Radeon RX 470 by Sapphire OC 4GB and NITRO+ 8GB

I appreciate Sapphire for memory clock to 7GHz in 4 GB version version and 8GHz in 8GB. Although the Sapphire RX 470 OC  is an excellent and cost-effective, the "reference" cooler compared to Nitro + version simply is not good and certainly I personally recommend you pay extra for Nitro + version (either RX 470 and RX 480).


SAPPHIRE NITRO+ Radeon RX 480 video card review

I really like the simple but sophisticated appearance of the Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX480. It has a very simple outward appearance. So with all of that in mind, where does the Sapphire RX 480 Nitro land? Well if you are on the market for an RX 480 the Nitro is a much better option than the reference card. Not only will you see better performance, but it also ran cooler and quieter. It does cost a little more but the performance makes up the difference.
